Duration: Approximately 3 months, with potential for shorter or longer duration and ongoing part-time consulting opportunities
About the Role
Voler Systems is seeking an experienced EMI/EMC Engineer to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve electromagnetic interference issues in complex electronic systems.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring someone who can independently diagnose EMI problems, identify whether interference originates from analog or digital circuitry, and implement effective corrective solutions.
The initial project is expected to last approximately three months. An expert may complete the immediate work considerably faster and may then be considered for additional consulting projects.
Responsibilities
• Test, diagnose, and troubleshoot EMI/EMC issues
• Identify sources of electromagnetic interference in analog and digital circuits
• Develop and implement corrective actions to resolve EMI problems
• Support and observe EMC testing at third-party certification laboratories
• Apply proper grounding and shielding techniques to reduce emissions and susceptibility
• Troubleshoot circuit-level and system-level EMC issues
• Work closely with electrical and analog design engineers
• Support compliance testing and technical documentation
Qualifications
• Approximately 5–10+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Strong hands-on EMI/EMC troubleshooting experience
• Experience supporting testing at third-party EMC laboratories
• Proven ability to identify root causes of EMI and implement corrective solutions
• Understanding of EMI generated by both analog and digital circuitry
• Strong knowledge of grounding and shielding techniques
• Familiarity with FCC Part 15 Class A and Class B requirements
• Ability to work onsite in the San Francisco Bay Area

• Broader electrical engineering or digital design experience
