Job Title: Formulation Manufacturing Technician

Job Description

This role is responsible for manufacturing pharmaceutical assemblies in a regulated GMP environment, with a focus on solution preparation, formulation activities, and production support within the Formulation Department. You will perform hands-on manufacturing tasks, operate and maintain specialized equipment, and ensure accurate documentation to support the production of high-quality medical and pharmaceutical products.

Responsibilities

• Set up, verify, and tear down manufacturing equipment before and after processing to ensure proper operation and compliance with procedures.
• Prepare solutions and production materials according to established formulations and standard operating procedures.
• Perform a variety of manufacturing tasks, including fabrication, in-process testing, and packaging of pharmaceutical assemblies.
• Document all production activities accurately and legibly in manufacturing lot history records to maintain full traceability and compliance.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment and the production area to support a controlled and safe manufacturing environment.
• Utilize pipettes and micro weighing equipment to measure and handle materials with precision.
• Perform basic analysis of data, as needed, to support process monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Formulate polymers and prepare spray coating formulations in accordance with defined specifications.
• Set up coating machines and operate them to coat balloon catheters, ensuring proper inspection and folding of the catheters after coating.
• Prepare excipient formulations and spray coating formulations for use in the manufacturing process.
• Follow and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) at all times.
• Apply aseptic techniques and sanitization practices to maintain product quality and prevent contamination.
• Support cleanroom and manufacturing operations by following appropriate gowning, handling, and housekeeping procedures.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and support weekend or Saturday work as needed.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing within a formulation or similar department.
• Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment with strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Demonstrated ability to perform assembly and manufacturing tasks in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency in using pipettes and micro weighing equipment to handle and measure materials accurately.
• Experience with aseptic techniques and aseptic handling of materials and equipment.
• Ability to follow and comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation requirements.
• Hands-on experience with packaging, sanitization, and cleanroom practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, measurements, and process execution.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or chemical manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with formulation of polymers and spray coating formulations.
• Experience operating coating machines or similar production equipment.
• Comfort working with balloon catheters or other delicate medical device components.
• Ability to perform basic data analysis to support process monitoring.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility to support multiple shifts or occasional Saturday work as needed.

Work Environment

This position is based in a cleanroom and manufacturing environment that supports pharmaceutical and medical device production. You will work with specialized equipment such as coating machines, pipettes, micro weighing devices, and other production and testing tools. The role is available on 1st shift (approximately 2:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) with some Saturdays as needed, and on 2nd shift (approximately 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.) with occasional Saturday work as required. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to GMP, aseptic techniques, SOPs, sanitization, and cleanroom practices. You can expect to follow defined gowning and cleanliness standards appropriate for cleanroom operations while collaborating closely with a production team to meet manufacturing goals.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.20/hr.
