Grocery ClerkAs a Grocery Clerk, you are responsible for stocking incoming and backstock product on our shelves. You will be in charge of maintaining a clean and orderly space, organizing shelves out on the floor, in the walk-in, and in the back rooms. Having a positive attitude, team mentality, and an eagerness to learn is a must. This role offers a lot of room for growth and leadership opportunities. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is a required component of this role; all Clerks must be available to work at least one weekend day regularly.ResponsibilitiesStock incoming and backstock product on our shelves, maintaining all aisles and sidewalks organized, safe, and clear of tripping hazards during and after deliveriesRegularly prepare empty pallets for return to our Commissary kitchenMaintain clean and orderly space on the floor, in the aisles (including topstock), in the walk-in, and in all back of house areas, according to Company protocolsMaintain sales tags, promo tags, all signage in the grocery aisles/sets, communicating any inaccuracies or discrepancies to store leadershipMaintain clear and clean storefront, in compliance with store readiness standardsFacing and stocking all areas of grocery (including dairy, alcohol, and our prepared G&G foods)Monitor product and check for expiration. Ensure products are routinely FIFO-ed (first in first out) and waste is accurately tracked and reportedAdhere to guidelines for processing, inventory management, and ordering to ensure daily accuracy of dataKnowledge and implementation of safe food handling proceduresProvide excellent customer service and hospitality to all guests in all areas of the storeDemonstrate consistent work attendanceAbility to determine priorities and take initiative to identify and address priorities within the store throughout shift, with guidance from store leadership as neededMaintaining a positive, equitable work environment for all staffStay informed about weekly new items and be able to guide customers to product locations throughout the storeCommunicate and collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner and in line with our Communication Code of ConductSupport with cashiering as neededCompetenciesStrong communicatorCreative thinkerExcellent customer serviceAttention to detailWork environmentSales floor of retail grocery storesPhysical demandsMust be able to lift 50 lbsMust be able to spend 6-8 hours per day on your feetStooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, stretching, twisting, reaching, repetitive stocking motions.Stocking of shelves and merchandising displaysHandling of refrigerated product in a cold environment for extended periods of timeComfort with handling animal products and byproductsPreferred education and experienceExperience with retail, preferably groceryExperience with food preparation, service, and safetyExperience with customer serviceA willingness to train and work in other areas of the store as neededAdditional Eligibility RequirementsMust be 18 years or olderProficiency in EnglishOther dutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
