This role blends strong technical accounting with leadership, oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee month‑end close and core accounting operations Supervise preparation of GAAP and STAT financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) Manage multi‑entity financial reporting and regulatory compliance Oversee reinsurance accounting activities Prepare and review key statutory filings, including: Annual Statement Risk‑Based Capital (RBC) reporting Schedule F & Schedule P Investment schedules and expense exhibits Partner with internal and external auditors to support audit processes Strengthen and monitor internal controls, reconciliations, and accounting processes Review journal entries, account analyses, and financial statements for accuracy Analyze financial results and present insights to leadership Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting operations Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff Required Qualifications (Must‑Have) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred) 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership Strong GAAP AND STAT accounting experience (STAT is REQUIRED) Background in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry Experience with financial reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance Proven ability to manage accounting for multiple legal entities Experience supervising and developing accounting teams Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Experience with reinsurance accounting Multi‑state regulatory reporting experience Strong technical/system skills and experience working with large datasets Exposure to process improvement or system optimization initiatives What Will Make You Successful Process improvement mindset — constantly looking to enhance efficiency and accuracy Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Ability to operate in a detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven environment Confident communicator with the ability to partner with leadership Collaborative leadership style and team‑builder Who This Role Is Ideal For This opportunity is ideal for a current Assistant Controller or strong Accounting Manager within the P&C insurance space who is looking for a high‑visibility, next‑step leadership role with the ability to influence processes and make a measurable impact. #J-18808-Ljbffr
