Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Perform MIG, TIG, Flux Core, or stick welding on carbon and stainless steel.
- Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and plasma cutters to prep materials.
- Align, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure correct configuration before final welding.
- Inspect completed welds for defects to ensure structural integrity.
- Operate heavy machinery like cranes and forklifts when needed.
- Follow strict safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Proven experience in a weld shop or construction environment.
- Ability to pass practical weld tests, such as a 3G position test.
- Knowledge of welding codes and safety standards.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in awkward positions.
