Lincoln Electric System (LES) is seeking an experienced Attorney to provide strategic legal counsel across a broad range of matters including regulatory compliance, employment law, contracts, litigation, real estate, environmental issues, legislation, and utility operations. In this role, you will partner with leaders throughout the organization, represent LES in regulatory and legal proceedings, and help navigate complex legal challenges that support our mission of delivering safe, reliable, and affordable energy. JOB SUMMARY


Advises internal customers on matters of legal and regulatory policy to ensure LES compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. Provides reliable and accurate advice and review of legal matters to include bankruptcy, administrative law, law of governmental subdivisions, employment law, legislation, real estate, environmental law, purchasing, contracts, and insurance. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES

• Represents LES as a legal advisor and performs related work as directed to include transactions or proceedings before regulatory agencies, commissioners, board, hearing officers, and public agencies and represents LES in certain litigations and other legal proceedings.
• Assists with contract negotiations with outside agencies, vendors, or contractors.
• Provides assistance and acts as liaison to all external legal counsel in relation to any LES activities for which they have been retained.
• Prepares and reviews legal documents and other correspondence such as pleadings, agreements, testimony, affidavits, briefs, waivers, proposals, easements, contracts, etc.
• Provides legal advice and review pertaining to the legal transactions, proposed legislation, programs, policies, etc.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Knowledge of the operation of municipal governments, city councils and utility boards (both appointed and elected).

• Experience in review and negotiation of electric utility contracts, including power supply contracts, major project construction contracts, transmission contracts, financing contracts, rate schedules, and contracts for support functions.

• Ability to perform independent and difficult legal research and ability to analyze and apply legal principles, facts and precedents to difficult legal or factual situations.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and collaborate with co-workers, elected officials, and the general public.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Juris Doctorate degree, and at least four years of relevant work experience; or


An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.


REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Nebraska.


Valid driver's license.
