Job Summary And Qualifications The Medical Lab Technician performs tests, inputs patient information and test results into the computer, performs computer functions as needed and assists in other duties as directed by the laboratory supervisor/manager. The technician is proficient in one or more of the following disciplines as determined by departmental needs: Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Immunohematology (Blood Bank). Minimum Education: Associate Degree Minimum Experience: 6 months to 1 year preferred (not required) Required Certification: Must possess MLT or equivalent certification, or be currently eligible to sit for MLT or equivalent certification exam. Certification as MLT (ASCP) or equivalent is required within 180 days of hire. Skills: Fundamental knowledge of laboratory medicine, leadership and business skills. Qualifications MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
