Summary This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Southeast, Division of Administration, Division of Facility Management in MANTEO, NORTH CAROLINA. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Salary Range Information (Per Annum): GS-12: $90,838 (Step 1*) - $118,092 (Step 10) Major Duties At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this Supervisory Facilities Operations Specialist position include, but are not limited to the following: Serves as the facility management expert, providing technical support and leading the formulation and execution of long-range strategies for facility operations, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and development. Responsible for all maintenance operations, including supervision of five maintenance districts and coordination of maintenance programs and agency support activities. Actively participates in decisions affecting overall park management policy and operations; contributes to the development and implementation of park management documents; and evaluates maintenance programs affecting park operations to ensure compliance with approved management direction. Responsible for developing and implementing a park-wide maintenance operational efficiency program, a comprehensive maintenance and operations plan, and energy conservation practices. Performs supervisory duties including recruiting and recommending the selection of employees; executing established work plans; establishing work schedules and priorities; and recommending promotions, reassignments, and other personnel actions. AREA INFORMATION: The Outer Banks are comprised by several towns including Manteo, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Buxton, and Ocracoke. The area is a beach destination. The beaches, as well as Albemarle and Pamlico sounds, provide exceptional recreational opportunities, such as fishing, surfing, boating, and many other watersports. There are several highly rated elementary, middle, and high schools and numerous extracurricular activities available for children. These towns all have homes for sale or rent and are within reasonable driving distance.
