o Beds: 2 IR Suites


o Years of Experience? 2 years of IR experience for RNs and Techs

o Cath Lab and IR are separate here
• Patient Types:


o Inpatient, outpatient, ER. No Neuro IR here.


o Staff will assist with ultrasound guided cases and assist in CT as well, as needed.


o 1 RN, 1 Tech, Radiologist/PA/APC (Advanced Practicing Clinician) in case at minimum. Higher level cases usually have an additional RN or RT


o Required: Paras/thoras, biopsies (bone, thyroid, liver, renal), abscess drainage, angiograms of upper/lower extremities, fistulograms, g-tube from scratch/exchanges, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, coil embolizations, nephrostomy tubes/nephroureteral stents, some trialysis catheters/central lines, ports, IVC filter


o Preferred: Y90s/TIPS
• Required Licensure & Certifications:


o RN: BLS, ACLS


o Tech: BLS, ARRT; will not accept just RCIS
• Skills required:


o RN: must be comfortable administering conscious/moderate sedation (no propofol), administering other IV medications, circulating cases


o Tech: must be comfortable scrubbing into cases as well as operating the table together, suturing, circulating cases
• Support within the Department:


o Radiologist


o 4 RNs, 4 Techs is the fully staffed model


o RT


o Hospitalist


o Rapid Response (RRT)/Code Team


o Manager/supervisor


o Lead Tech - makes schedule and manages daily operation in the lab
• Technology/Equipment:


o EMR: EPIC (experience preferred)


o IV Pump: Alaris


o Med dispensing: Pyxis


o C-arm: Siemens Artis Zee (experience preferred for Techs)
• Floating:


o Sometimes to CT with patients to continue cases
• Orientation:


o 3 days of orientation, can have a couple more days if needed


o Will do buddy call during orientation
• Scheduling:


o Weekend rotation: Call only, see below


o On call? Yes
• 1 weekend per 4-week schedule. EOS Friday - Monday at 07:00
• 1 weekday call shift per week - 16:30-07:00
• 1 RN and 1 Tech will work the "late" shift (08:00-16:30) on their call days. Will be the call team
• The radiologist/PA/APC will be notified if there's a case and will give the final approval if team is to be called in


o Holiday Expectations: every other, call only


o Approval of RTO: to go through manager


o Shift times: 8h shifts for all staff


o Schedule cycle: lead tech will make schedule

o Scrub Color: provided. Travelers can keep shoes in the locker room. If they wear in shoes from home, they will need to wear shoe covers
