Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to patients with complex medical oncology conditions, supporting their treatment and recovery in a high-acuity environment. This role requires advanced clinical skills and the ability to manage rapidly changing patient needs during shift work.

Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy and monitor patients for side effects, ensuring safety and compliance with treatment protocols.
• Interpret cardiac arrhythmias and respond appropriately to emergent cardiac events.
• Provide respiratory care including management of trachs, chest tubes, AirVO, CPAP, and BiPAP devices.
• Assess patient conditions continuously, recognizing early signs of deterioration and prioritizing care during critical situations.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care, including end-of-life and hospice support.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families about treatment plans and clinical status.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Possess prior experience in oncology nursing, preferably with complex medical populations.
• Demonstrate proficiency in chemotherapy administration and side effect management.
• Have STEP DOWN unit experience and ACLS certification (preferred).
• Be capable of interpreting complex cardiac arrhythmias and responding swiftly.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask in urgent situations.
