Help

• Delivers executive-level leadership and management in planning and executing the office's daily operations, personnel
  management, priorities and deliverables.
• Provides technical, administrative and analytical guidance to the Director, Deputy Director, and office staff on wideranging issues requiring high degree of tact, diplomacy and expertise.
• Performs supervisory duties, guides and mentors the Office of the Director's staff.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts, consultants, process owners, program managers, and advisors; to assess
  problems, identify risks, and create solutions for top leadership decisions.
• Oversees the management of the office's resources including human resources, budget, property, training, spending
  plan, and internal control program.
• Conducts complex and high-priority special assignments on behalf of the Director, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff
  involving programs that impact the entire agency.
• Maintain emergency policies and procedures to effectively monitor and facilitate communications with the agency
  leadership

Residency Requirement : There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.

Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/02/2026.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/02/2026.

GS-15 : You qualify at the GS-15 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the all of the following duties:

• Supervising and/or mentoring staff personnel, including assigning and reviewing work products, setting performance expectations, and providing feedback.
• Managing office resources including human resources, budget and finance, property, security, emergency management/operations, and logistics.
• Leading special projects that have an agency wide impact.
• Providing leadership support in agency-level programs and initiatives affecting the agency's mission and priorities.
