The flexibility of working in outpatient therapy, with occasional inpatient support, means you can immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of pediatric language development, adult neurogenic communication challenges, or geriatric cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation. Description
- Assess patients spanning the pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations through standardized tests and observational methods.
- Craft individualized treatment strategies that cater to both immediate objectives and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs.
- Deliver tailored speech therapy sessions that focus on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing skills.
- Work alongside physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to devise synergistic care plans.
- Educate patients and families to encourage meaningful progress outside of clinical appointments.
- Contribute to inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
- Keep precise and prompt documentation in line with state, federal, and organizational requirements.
- Engage in ongoing learning by staying abreast of advances in the field through continuing education and collaboration with peers.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Expertise in evidence-based treatment techniques for clients of all ages, along with a solid understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Able to adapt therapy methodologies to cater to diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong clinical insight and problem-solving competencies.
- Comfortable with electronic medical records and documentation practices.
