People Operations Coordinator (Human Resources)

The Role

We are seeking a highly organized, personable, and detail-oriented HR Coordinator to support the day-to-day People operations of our critically acclaimed restaurant team in New York City. This role serves as an important point of contact for employees and managers and supports the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, employee relations, training, compliance, and offboarding.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, enjoys working directly with people, and understands that an effective HR function requires both strong administration and a visible presence within the operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General HR Administration

• Serve as first point-of-contact for HR inquiries, triaging requests received through the People team inbox, and fielding to the appropriate members of the team for action.
• Assist with all internal HR related inquiries and tasks, such as requests for employee verification letters, ordering and maintaining records and weekly announcements.
• Assist with different HR initiatives and projects, including audits, open enrollment, minimum wage updates, trainings, and updates to onboarding forms on the HR drive.
• PTO/Holiday Tracker & HRIS updates
• Termination reporting/DOL compliance
• Employee Referral processing
• Supporting in all other HR-related functions, as required.
• New-Hire Onboarding (Hourly) and assist employees as needed through forms
• New Hire Audits

Recruiting

• Coordinate job postings and maintain recruiting records and trackers
• Schedule interviews and manage candidate communications
• Conduct initial phone screenings with candidates for assigned positions and share relevant feedback with hiring managers
• Manage recruiting for assigned positions, including developing and posting job advertisements, sourcing and reviewing candidates, conducting initial interviews, and advancing qualified candidates through the selection process
• Coordinate background checks, references, offer documentation and other pre-employment needs
• Support recruiting events, candidate sourcing, and talent-pipeline initiatives.
• Help ensure candidates receive a responsive and positive experience throughout the hiring process.

Employee Life Cycle | Onboarding & Offboarding

• Present and track onboarding requirements and completion
• Coordinate new-hire orientation schedules and follow-up with hiring managers and Head of People
• Coordinate offboarding tasks, documentation, checklists, and return-of-property processes.

Employee Relations Support

• Serve as an accessible first point of contact for routine employee questions and direct more complex matters to the appropriate team member.
• Maintain employee records, personnel files, HRIS information, forms, templates, trackers, calendars and documentation.
• Prepare employment verification letters, reports, and employee communications.

Benefits & Payroll Support

• Partner with Head of People to support benefits, payroll, leave, retirement, and other employee-service processes.
• Help employees navigate routine questions and connect them with the appropriate subject-matter expert when needed.
• Support employee communications, open enrollment materials, records, and documentation.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee information.
• Assist with Payroll processing (Toast/7Shifts/ADP).
• Set up and maintain employee profiles, wages and any relevant personal data.
