Breakfast Attendant

Position Purpose

The Breakfast Attendant helps guests start their day with a great experience by providing friendly service and maintaining a clean, well-stocked, and inviting breakfast area. This position is responsible for preparing and replenishing breakfast items, maintaining food and beverage stations, assisting guests, clearing tables, and ensuring all food safety and cleanliness standards are followed.

Essential Functions

• Greet guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
• Set up and maintain the breakfast area according to hotel and brand standards.
• Prepare and display breakfast items such as coffee, juice, fruit, cereals, breads, hot foods, and other menu offerings as applicable.
• Monitor breakfast stations and replenish food, beverages, utensils, plates, cups, condiments, and other supplies throughout service.
• Monitor food quality, appearance, temperature, and freshness throughout the breakfast period.
• Answer guest questions regarding breakfast offerings, ingredients, hotel amenities, and local area information.
• Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests.
• Clear, clean, and sanitize tables throughout breakfast service.
• Wash and properly store dishes, utensils, serving ware, and food service equipment as required.
• Maintain clean and organized food preparation, serving, storage, and guest areas.
• Clean spills promptly and sweep, mop, vacuum, or otherwise maintain floors for cleanliness and safety.
• Remove trash and maintain waste areas throughout the shift.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
• Follow applicable hotel and brand standards for breakfast preparation, presentation, and service.
• Break down and clean the breakfast area following service.
• Properly store approved food and supplies at the end of the breakfast period.
• Communicate supply, maintenance, food quality, or guest concerns to management promptly.
• Complete assigned opening, closing, and daily cleaning responsibilities.

Supportive Functions

In addition to performing the essential functions, this position may be required to perform other duties based on the operational needs of the hotel.

• Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking breakfast supplies.
• Monitor inventory and communicate items needed for upcoming service.
• Assist with food preparation as needed and permitted.
• Assist other Food & Beverage or hotel departments when needed.
• Attend required meetings and training.
• Follow all hotel safety and security procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous food service, restaurant, breakfast, or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
• Friendly and professional communication skills.
• Strong guest service skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized during busy breakfast periods.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
• Ability to learn and follow food preparation, handling, and storage procedures.
• Ability to recognize potential food safety or sanitation concerns and take appropriate action.
• Dependable and able to consistently report to work on time as scheduled.
• Ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to safely handle hot food, beverages, dishes, food service equipment, and cleaning supplies.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to prepare food, stock supplies, clean, and operate food service equipment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull food, supplies, dishes, and equipment as required for the position.

Hospitality Expectations

Our hotels operate seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day. All associates are expected to support a professional, welcoming, and service-focused environment at all times. Scheduling and responsibilities may vary based on business and operational needs.
