About the Role

The Company is seeking a Director, Associate General Counsel to join their legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic evaluation, management, and mitigation of legal risk across a diverse portfolio of litigation matters. This includes commercial disputes, transportation claims, workers' compensation claims, employment litigation, and regulatory actions. The role involves driving end-to-end litigation strategy, managing outside counsel, and ensuring alignment with the company's legal and business positions. The Director will also provide legal guidance on a range of issues, support internal investigations, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, be admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and have a minimum of 10 years' of experience in managing litigation matters. Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate complex legal issues effectively to non-legal audiences. The role requires the ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of professionalism. Preferred qualifications include experience in industries with high safety standards and a background in handling union and labor relations matters. The Director will also be involved in training and development, and must be adept at building and nurturing relationships to advise senior leadership.
