About Omega Contractors Omega Contractors is a commercial and industrial electrical contractor serving Austin and Central Texas. Our work includes commercial and industrial electrical construction, equipment installations, facility upgrades, shutdowns, power distribution, controls, lighting, and ongoing facility maintenance. We are seeking experienced Commercial/Industrial Journeyman Electricians who take pride in their workmanship, understand electrical construction requirements, and can complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and according to project standards. Position Summary The Commercial/Industrial Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing electrical installations, troubleshooting systems, reading construction documents, and supporting the successful completion of commercial and industrial projects. Journeymen are expected to work independently when assigned, provide guidance to apprentices and tradesmen, communicate field conditions to the foreman, and maintain Omega Contractors’ safety, quality, and productivity standards. This is a hands-on field position requiring strong technical ability, dependable attendance, and the ability to work extended schedules when required. Primary Responsibilities Install commercial and industrial electrical systems according to drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements. Install, bend, cut, thread, and support electrical conduit. Install cable tray, wireways, junction boxes, device boxes, supports, and electrical equipment. Pull, route, label, terminate, and test branch-circuit and feeder conductors. Install lighting fixtures, lighting controls, receptacles, switches, panels, disconnects, transformers, and related equipment. Perform equipment connections and electrical terminations. Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, specifications, and installation details. Identify drawing conflicts, installation concerns, and material shortages and report them to the foreman. Troubleshoot electrical circuits, controls, equipment, and installation issues. Verify circuit identification, conductor labeling, torque requirements, and installation quality. Assist with electrical shutdowns, equipment outages, testing, energization, and commissioning activities. Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before formal inspection. Follow the National Electrical Code, project specifications, manufacturer instructions, and customer requirements. Complete assigned work within established labor and schedule expectations. Maintain accurate redline information and communicate field changes to the foreman. Direct and train apprentices and tradesmen when assigned. Participate in daily pre-task planning and job-hazard discussions. Maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas. Properly use and protect company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials. Follow company policies, project procedures, quality requirements, and job-site rules. Immediately report safety concerns, damaged materials, defective equipment, quality issues, and potential delays. Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License. Commercial or industrial electrical construction experience. Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, panel schedules, and one-line diagrams. Experience installing and bending EMT and other raceway systems. Experience installing branch circuits, feeders, electrical equipment, and devices. Ability to perform electrical terminations and equipment connections. Ability to use electrical test equipment safely and correctly. Ability to troubleshoot common electrical and installation issues. Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision. Ability to provide direction and training to apprentices and tradesmen. Ability to communicate clearly with foremen, supervisors, coworkers, customers, and other trades. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must provide and maintain the hand tools required for the position. Must be dependable and consistently report to work as scheduled. Experience in both commercial and industrial electrical construction. Experience working in active commercial, production, or manufacturing environments. Experience with switchgear, panelboards, transformers, disconnects, motor controls, and industrial equipment. Experience with lighting systems, lighting controls, tenant improvements, and commercial renovations. Experience with cable tray, rigid conduit, intermediate metal conduit, PVC-coated conduit, and large conduit installations. Experience with feeder installations and large conductor terminations. Experience with shutdowns, scheduled outages, and weekend work. Experience with testing, commissioning, quality inspections, and project turnover. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Aerial lift and forklift training. First Aid and CPR certification. Experience using digital drawings, construction applications, or electronic reporting systems. Weekday overtime. Friday and Saturday work. Scheduled shutdowns. Early morning start times. Occasional night work. Work in active commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities. Travel to project locations throughout Austin and Central Texas. Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and work for extended periods. Regularly lift and carry electrical materials, tools, and equipment. Lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts. Work overhead and in confined or restricted work areas. Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Work around operating equipment and active construction activities. Wear required personal protective equipment. Safely perform the physical duties associated with commercial and industrial electrical construction. Commercial and industrial electrical experience. Technical knowledge and installation ability. Conduit-bending and raceway-installation experience. Ability to read and execute electrical drawings. Troubleshooting and testing capabilities. License status and relevant certifications. Ability to lead and develop apprentices and tradesmen. Demonstrated safety, quality, productivity, and attendance. Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Schedule and Work Expectations Omega Contractors typically works 10-hour shifts, with employees averaging 50–60 hours per week. Work schedules may include: Schedules may change based on customer requirements, project deadlines, production restrictions, and shutdown availability. Applicants must be able to consistently work the established project schedule, including overtime and weekend work when required. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Compensation The hourly pay range for this position is $34.00–$37.00 per hour . Starting pay will be based on: Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour requirements.
