About UsExcel Medical Imaging is an independent, physician- and family-owned radiology practice proudly serving the New Port Richey community since 2001. We are the region’s only full-service, freestanding diagnostic and interventional imaging center — now also a designated Graduate Medical Education training site, offering a dynamic and collaborative learning environment for residents and clinical learners.
Our team provides advanced diagnostic imaging and outpatient procedures with personalized attention, free from hospital bureaucracy. Our motto, “We build our image… one patient at a time,” reflects our commitment to high-touch care, continuous improvement, and clinical excellence.
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly skilled PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team full-time on a Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour shift schedule . This technologist will be replacing an existing technologist who is moving out of state.
This position is responsible for independently performing both PET/CT and conventional nuclear medicine examinations in a physician-led outpatient imaging center. Our PET program includes oncologic FDG imaging, PSMA PET imaging, amyloid brain PET imaging, and research-related studies. Our nuclear medicine services include routine planar and SPECT examinations.
The ideal candidate is comfortable managing the complete PET and nuclear medicine workflow, including patient preparation, IV access, radiopharmaceutical administration, image acquisition and processing, equipment quality control, radiopharmacy coordination, hot-lab documentation, radiation safety, and accreditation readiness.
This role is best suited for an experienced technologist who values clinical autonomy, excellent image quality, direct physician collaboration, organized departmental operations, and compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities- Perform high-quality PET/CT examinations, including FDG oncology, PSMA, amyloid brain, and other approved clinical or research protocols
- Perform routine planar and SPECT nuclear medicine examinations according to established protocols
- Review patient history, orders, indications, prior imaging, laboratory information, medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, and contraindications before each examination

- Operate and maintain our GE Discovery V64 PET/CT and GE Millennium MG SPECT gamma camera
- Review acquired images for motion, artifact, patient preparation issues, extravasation, attenuation-correction problems, and technical completeness before releasing the patient
- Process and reconstruct PET, planar, and SPECT studies for radiologist interpretation
- Perform PET/CT and gamma-camera quality-control procedures according to manufacturer, physicist, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
- Immediately document and appropriately escalate failed or out-of-range quality-control results
- Coordinate radiopharmaceutical ordering, delivery, receipt, surveying, storage, preparation, administration, return, and disposal

- Maintain appropriate inventory of clinical, radiopharmaceutical, contrast, IV, emergency, and radiation-safety supplies
- Participate in protocol development, workflow improvement, research imaging, and education of residents or clinical learners when appropriate
- Maintain a calm, professional, and reassuring experience for patients throughout their examinations

- Ability to independently recognize and troubleshoot technical image-quality problems
- Experience coordinating radiopharmacy orders, dose deliveries, radioactive shipments, and waste preferred
- Experience supporting ACR accreditation or regulatory inspections strongly preferred
- Experience with GE PET/CT or GE nuclear medicine equipment preferred
- Experience with clinical research imaging protocols is a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and patient-care skills
- Ability to work independently while communicating appropriately with the radiologist and clinical team
