Associate Director, Actuarial Services At UnitedHealthcare, you will lead complex actuarial projects with strategic importance to our mission of helping people lead healthier lives. Remote work is available from anywhere within the U.S.; for hires in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C., you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities Understand and interpret key drivers of health care trends Assist in developing analytics that serve as the foundation for actuarial medical cost forecasting Translate highly complex forecasting & trend concepts for a variety of audiences, including senior leaders Serve as a consultant to local markets to explain forecasted and historical trend drivers Improve and develop advanced analytic techniques and predictive models Mentor and develop a small team of actuarial students, helping them create unique solutions to complex problems Required Qualifications ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation 5+ years of actuarial experience Proficiency with R, Python, and/or SQL (Structured Query Language) Advanced or higher level proficiency in Excel, especially model development Preferred Qualifications Experience working in finance or the health care industry Experience communicating actuarial concepts & models to non-actuarial audiences Supervisory experience Experience and interest in developing original quantitative work Expert level proficiency with R, Python, and/or SQL Advanced or higher level proficiency in Power BI Pay and Benefits Pay is based on several factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment.
