Senior Contracts Specialist (Med Dev or similar required supporting hospitals)

Job Summary The Senior Contract Specialist position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering a broad range of tenders, proposals, and other commercial contracts. The role requires extensive legal and contract management experience, exemplified by the ability to evaluate commercial and legal risk to Haemonetics and suggest appropriate contract structures or terms for effective risk management. It actively participates in contract compliance, diligence, and reporting, while counseling internal departments on legal, regulatory, and business obligations and escalating issues to associate or general counsel as needed. The specialist oversees the contract process from drafting complex commercial agreements through negotiation and monitoring compliance across all business units. Frequent verbal and written interaction with internal and external stakeholders is required, along with the ability to identify and resolve complex commercial, transactional, and compliance issues. Ideal candidates have experience working with hospital contracts in a medical device or similar industry. Essential Responsibilities Revise, edit, and prepare redlines of complex commercial contracts, including master services agreements, capital equipment purchase agreements, public tenders, group purchasing agreements, software agreements, collaboration agreements, development agreements, vendor agreements and negotiate non‑customer‑facing agreements as requested. Effectively evaluate commercial and legal risk to the company and suggest appropriate contract structures or terms for risk management. Analyze legal and business obligations within contracts and tenders, evaluating risk or unfavorable language and elevating issues to the Legal Department and other stakeholders. Advise and counsel commercial teams, identifying contractual and regulatory issues, assessing legal options, and providing analysis and possible solutions. Assist in ongoing periodic review of contract templates, playbooks, company guidelines, and contract policies and procedures. Manage the contract management system, ensuring on‑time processing of all contracts from request through execution. Lead efforts to update and maintain legal terms and conditions in the contract management system. Draft template contracts, correspondence, memoranda, and other documentation as needed. Assist with compliance and diligence issues related to commercial transactions. Monitor key reports and actual customer results against contracts; proactively advise the legal department of trends and compliance concerns. Stay current with Haemonetics' standards, trends, product offerings, and business models. Serve as liaison between internal stakeholders and legal counsel as appropriate. Proactively manage communications and follow‑up with stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service and visibility of end‑to‑end contract processes. Research regulatory trends and public tender laws to anticipate and mitigate legal risks. Pay superb attention to detail and provide timely legal support in a fast‑paced environment. Participate in other projects as requested. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required, including experience in complex tender handling where applicable. A paralegal degree is preferred but not required. Advanced university degree in law or a related business field is preferred. 5‑7 years of professional experience in a law firm or corporate contract management setting. Prior experience in a healthcare industry (Medtech/Biotech/Pharma/Lifesciences) working directly with hospitals is strongly required. Additional Skills and Requirements Strong understanding of legal issues and risks pertinent to the commercial contract process, with working knowledge of public tender law where applicable. Solid understanding of contracting in life science companies, including development, clinical, and commercial contract processes. Capable of producing high‑quality routine work with general to minimal supervision. Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills. Demonstrate high level of integrity and professionalism. Strong written, verbal communication and listening skills. Develops and delivers effective presentations. Excellent time‑management and organizational skills. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities. Excellent collaboration and team‑building skills. Maintains composure under pressure. Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents. Process improvement orientation, highly detail oriented and decision‑making skills required. Oracle knowledge preferred; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office-suite applications required. EEO Policy Statement Pay Transparency The base pay offered will take into account, without limitation, the candidate's location, education, job knowledge, skills, and experience in prior relevant roles. Incentives may also be provided as part of Haemonetics' employee compensation. For sales roles, employees will be eligible for sales incentive under the applicable plan terms. For non‑sales roles, employees will be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, the target amount of which varies based on the applicable role, governed by the plan terms. Employees may also be eligible to participate in the Company's long‑term incentive plan, with eligibility and target amount dependent on the role. In addition to compensation, the Company offers a competitive suite of benefits, including a 401(k) with up to a 6% employer match and no vesting period, an employee stock purchase plan, flexible time off for salaried employees, and, for hourly employees, accrual of three to five weeks' vacation annually (based on tenure). Benefits also include up to 64 hours of paid sick time annually, paid and/or floating holidays, parental leave, short‑ and long‑term disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, and/or health and welfare benefits.
