Iron Helper - Various Locations

Job Summary:An Ironworker Helper assists Ironworker journeyman to complete tasks. May lay out, assemble and assist in complex tasks. Helpers learn mathematical functions and know their applications per their designated craft. Ability to properly identify and will receive instruction on the proper and safe use of, hand tools, power tools and equipment, including equipment for rigging and the corresponding procedures.Level IV: Competent to complete Journeyman level Iron tasks with minimal supervision.Overview of Primary Duties:Assists Journeyman by performing the simpler and more routine duties of the ironworker craft.Follow detailed instructions on new work assignments.Closely reviews work while tasks are being learned.Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: location, quantities, and sizes of materials required.Identify all tools required for tasks and identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.Use basic tools and care of the tools.Use of hand electric power tools and pneumatic tools.Demonstrate Yates Core Values and PrinciplesFollow Yates Code of ConductSafety Responsibilities and Expectations Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work PracticesReport all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.Required to wear and maintain personal PPE.Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations.Participate in workplace inspections.Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care.Participate in required and assigned training.Provide suggestions to improve Safety.Present a mature approach to working safely.Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute.Other related duties as needed and assigned by Field Supervision.This is not an all-inclusive list of tasks an employee may be asked to do. Employees are expected to complete any tasks they are assigned.Qualifications:Level IV:Thirty-six (36) + months of heavy industrial-related iron experienceOther verified experiences or certifications with iron experienceLevel III:Twenty-four (24) to thirty-five (35) months of heavy industrial-related iron experienceLevel II:Twelve (12) to twenty-three (23) months of heavy industrial-related iron experienceLevel I:Zero (0) to eleven (11) months of heavy industrial-related iron experienceOne (1) year of industrial experienceRequirements:Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentationPersonal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool ListSuccessful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at HeightsPhysical Demands/Essential Job Functions:This job description reflects an assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
