Staff Accountant (Hybrid)

Staff Accountant – (Hybrid)Location: Grand Rapids, MIThe Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting team by performing a variety of tasks, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring accurate record-keeping.Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely payments and collections.Month-End Close: Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments.Budgeting and Forecasting: Provide support in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing insights to management.Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.Ad Hoc Reporting: Prepare various ad hoc financial reports as required by management.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Experience: 2-9 years of experience in accounting or a related field is preferred. Experience in a similar role in Grand Rapids, MI, is a plus.Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).Knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements specific to Grand Rapids, MI.Working Conditions:This position typically operates in a professional office environment in Grand Rapids, MI.May require occasional overtime, especially during month-end or year-end closing periods.Salary Range: $50,000 – $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.Benefits:Health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) plan with company match.Paid time off and holidays.Professional development opportunities.
