Staff Accountant I

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Fiduciary Accounting Operations team at Marsh . This role will be based in Urbandale and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of six days per month in the office.

As a Staff Accountant I , you will own core accounting functions, keeping records accurate, closes on track, and reporting reliable while helping strengthen team processes and developing less experienced colleagues.

We will count on you to:

• Prepare money moves, payments, billing, administrative system accounting reports, and statements

• Prepare and analyze accounting reports, statements, reconciliations, and documentation; ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close

• Maintain accounts and client/insured records, including applying funds, processing account changes, billing, refunds, and carrier/third-party payment requests

• Perform variation and trend analysis on key accounts and reports; present findings to senior management, partners, carriers, or clients as needed

• Support development, implementation, and documentation of internal and external accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements for general accounting functions

• Review work of and provide guidance to junior accountants and offshore staff

• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, SOX, SSAE16, carrier agreements, tax regulations, and applicable GAAP and statutory requirements

• Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to have: 

• HS Diploma or equivalent

• 1-3 years of accounting experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in Excel
