US-NE-Mahanoy City-Logistics Specialist

Logistics Specialist develops and implements least-cost strategy for transportation and distribution of finished and unfinished products within the organization and customer market by performing the following duties: Principal Responsibilities: * Secures transportation availability for all logistical needs. * Supports transportation functions during emergency situations. * Follows standardized processes while performing dispatch duties for assigned locations. * Works with logistics team members to coordinate asset sharing and identify efficiencies. * Maintain rate databases and assist sales with quotes. * Develops working relationships with current and new carriers; understands and identifies advantages by engaging carrier strengths. * Reviews third party performance and carrier sourcing. * Facilitates communication between sales, customers and carriers as needed for successful, timely deliveries. * Participates in business development and special projects. * Contributes to company transportation decisions; exploits cost-savings opportunities for transportation and logistics. * Participates and contributes to company safety program. * Performs other related duties as assigned.
