Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) - Bessemer, Alabama

Deliver compassionate, expert care as a Registered Nurse specializing in Neuro/Nerosurgery on a dedicated 4th floor neuroscience unit. This contract opportunity offers a dynamic setting caring for neurosurgery and neuroscience patients in a supportive and collaborative environment.


Schedule:

• 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation
• No call requirements

Qualifications:

• Active RN license in good standing
• At least 2 years of neuro or neurosurgery nursing experience
• Current American Heart Association BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
• Experience with electronic medical records, preferably Cerner
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Ability to float to similar units as needed

Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients with neurological or neurosurgical needs
• Monitor and assess patient status, administering medications and treatments as appropriate
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Utilize critical thinking to respond to rapid changes in patient conditions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the Cerner EMR system
• Foster a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment in compliance with infection control practices and facility policies

Additional Details:

• 18-bed neuro/neurosurgery unit with a 1:6 patient ratio
• Navy blue scrubs required; artificial fingernails not permitted
