The chief purpose of this position in support of The Pauley Heart Center's mission is to serve in an hourly paid/PRN role within the CARDIOLOGY PROGRAM AT TAPPAHANNOCK HOSPITAL, providing clinical care, including clinic, reading of cardiovascular diagnostics, inpatient consults, supervision of stress testing and other credentialed patient care services.

Responsibilities

• Teaching: Support teaching directly via interactions with Fellows, Housestaff and non-physician professionals. Periodically present appropriate reviews in patient‑management discussions at Cardiology and Department of Internal Medicine conferences. Participate in University Continuing Medical Education programs for practicing physicians.
• Research: Support clinical research protocols as needed.
• Service: Participate in quality, safety and efficiency initiatives.
• Clinical: Dedicate to outpatient, inpatient and consultative clinical services. Collaborate across hospital departments including Primary Care, Hospitalists, ED and Imaging. Collaborate with VCU Medical Center and CMH Cardiology providers to set and implement appropriate standards of practice related to cardiac care.
• Other: Submit billing, document care as required by the organization, and abide by all medical staff requirements.

Qualifications

• BC/BE cardiologist with demonstrated skills in cardiovascular disease.
• Clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for academic appointment.
• Able to communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program.
• Expected to participate in teaching and Fellowship programs.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Virginia.
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: Commensurate.

FLSA Exemption Status: Exempt.
