Structural Steel Welder/Fitter

Location: Cocoa, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available Starting Pay: $24.00/hour, plus $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift; higher based on experience Position Overview We are hiring experienced Structural Steel Welders/Fitters for a shop-based fabrication role. Candidates with welding, fitting, or combined structural steel fabrication experience are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Review and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications Measure, mark, cut, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components Perform structural steel welding according to project specifications and applicable standards Set up and operate fabrication machinery, equipment, and hand tools Work with oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares Set up and operate a track torch when required Inspect materials and completed assemblies for proper dimensions, alignment, and workmanship Maintain an organized work area and follow required safety practices Coordinate with supervisors and other shop employees to meet production schedules and deadlines Required Qualifications Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel Working knowledge of welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, quality work Commitment to safe work practices Ability to work effectively with a team Preferred Qualifications Flux Core welding experience Ability to successfully complete a Flux Core welding test Experience setting up and operating a track torch AWS or other welding certifications are a plus We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
