Growing together.The Accounting Consultant is a mid-level finance professional responsible for supporting core accounting functions, including general ledger activities, financial analysis, and reporting. This role ensures accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and supports financial close and audit processes.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:The Accounting Consultant will support Optum Insight by:Serving as a trusted accounting partner to business leaders, finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholdersLeading monthly closing activities for assigned products or business areas, including full P&L and balance sheet ownershipMaintaining general ledger accounts and preparing journal entries, including revenue, expense, and other required accruals, in accordance with GAAP and company policiesPerforming account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and resolving complex accounting and financial reporting issuesOwning or supporting revenue recognition and billing processes, including evaluating unique or complex arrangementsAnalyzing monthly financial results and preparing clear P&L and balance sheet variance commentarySupporting monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting activities, including preparation or review of financial statements and supporting schedulesDeveloping, documenting, implementing, and maintaining effective accounting processes, procedures, and internal controlsIdentifying and implementing opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting processes and reportingManaging multiple priorities independently and collaborating with team members to ensure accurate and timely deliverablesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Accounting including a solid understanding of GAAP and financial statement interaction3+ years of Accounting experience including month-end close, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliationsProven to be a self-starter and solid time managementProven to be organized and able to work on multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentProven solid communication and interpersonal skillsProven to anticipate customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet themPreferred Qualifications:CPA designationExperience with Peoplesoft Financials, Hyperion SmartView and BlacklinePublic accounting experienceTechnical accounting experience, including ASC606Healthcare experienceAll employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment.
