Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), you will carry out essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with cardiopulmonary conditions across all age groups. As part of a patient-centered care team, your responsibilities will include performing basic maintenance on respiratory equipment, implementing quality control measures, and handling various administrative or technical tasks.

• Setting up and operating different types of respiratory care equipment.
• Conducting a variety of technical procedures related to cardiopulmonary hemodynamics.
• Demonstrating proficiency in airway management.
• Assessing patients accurately, interpreting results, and recommending alternative respiratory treatments.
• Exhibiting competence in routine patient assessments and recognizing respiratory dysfunction.
• Acting as a respiratory care protocol assessor by delivering therapy, reassessing patients promptly, and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Regularly communicating with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient care plans and updates.

Qualifications

Experience

• Preferred experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program recognized by the American Medical Association.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for NICU RRT staff.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required for ICU RRT staff.
