Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering exceptional, patient-focused respiratory care in line with departmental needs and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As an essential member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist conducts various diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures while monitoring patients who require both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Perform diagnostic procedures to determine the necessity for and response to respiratory therapy.
• Administer respiratory care treatments, such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medication administration, and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist in the placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor patients for therapeutic responses and alert providers while intervening as necessary in case of unexpected reactions.
• Assist in the transportation of patients who depend on ventilators.
• Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation when required.

Qualifications Required:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) certification.
• State Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner certification (RRT/RCP).
• Associate Degree in a relevant field.

Our facility is a full-service medical center offering comprehensive care across two locations. We are a 460+ bed, multi-specialty acute care hospital providing advanced women’s health services, including maternity and neonatal care with various levels of neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Our services also encompass minimally invasive gynecological surgeries, comprehensive breast imaging, a 24-hour emergency department, pediatric emergency care, and intensive care services.

We are recognized as a Level IV Maternal Facility by the State of Texas, providing the highest level of care for pregnant and postpartum patients, particularly those with complex medical conditions. Our center features a 95+ bed Level III NICU, labor and delivery rooms, and a midwifery program, among other specialized services.
