Department : Facilities Operation andMaint Salary : Commensurate withExperience/Education Description : Supervises and coordinates the activities of staff in theinstallation, repair, maintenance and preventive maintenance ofheating, refrigeration, air conditioning, controls and exhaustsystems and their sub-systems. Pursuant to the State of TexasExecutive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, orhas access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability tomaintain the security or integrity of the Universityinfrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinelyreviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuousconnections for the government or political apparatus of a foreignadversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintainthe security or integrity of the infrastructure. Supervises and coordinates the work duties of staff,providing work direction and inspecting work in progress andcompleted work. Reviews work orders and coordinates work to be performed withcustomers on campus. Develops work schedules and provides technical assistance anddirection to staff. Conducts performance appraisals on staff, and makesrecommendations on promotions, new hires, and terminations. Assures an adequate inventory of tools, equipment andsupplies to achieve unit objectives. Prepares and maintains personnel and payroll records such astimesheets; prepares recurring management reports. May be considered essential personnel and may be assigned toserve on special task force during periods of emergency. Performs other duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuationand simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. asmight normally be acquired through attainment of a high schooldiploma or GED. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-relatedexperience. Requires technical certification or licensing directlyrelated to the job, as specified on a job description addendum. Department is willing to accept education in lieu ofexperience. All positions at the University of Houston-System are securitysensitive and will require a criminal history check.
