Project Engineer (Civil Sitework)

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support our project management and field teams. You will work under a Project Manager and alongside our superintendents to run the day-to-day administration of turnkey civil site development projects, owning the recurring work that keeps a job moving, from submittals and procurement through daily reports, change order and pay application backup, and closeout. You will be on active jobsites regularly, carry assignments to completion, and raise the items that need a Project Manager decision early. The role suits someone with two to three years of construction experience and has room to grow into a Project Manager role.

What You Will Do

Prepare, log, and track submittals and RFIs from first issue through approval, including resubmittals and distribution to the field.

Run material procurement day to day: request and compare vendor quotes, prepare purchase orders, release materials, and track lead times and deliveries with the superintendent.

Maintain the Georgia 811 locate program for every active job, including tickets, renewals, and accurate records.

Keep plan sets current, post current drawings to the field platform, and summarize what changed for the project team.

Collect and file daily reports, site photos, production quantities, equipment hours, and testing records.

Perform quantity takeoffs for pipe, structures, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and earthwork.

Build change order backup, including time and material tickets, vendor invoices, and quantity support, and keep the change order log current.

Prepare monthly pay application backup, including schedule of values updates, lien waivers, and stored material documentation.

Code vendor and subcontractor invoices to the correct job and cost code, and flag variances against the budget forecast.

Help maintain the three week lookahead and project logs with the superintendent and Project Manager.

Visit active jobsites regularly to verify progress, confirm installed quantities, and support field supervision.

Coordinate testing, inspections, and permit documentation with municipalities, engineers, and general contractors.

Attend project meetings, record action items, and follow each item through to closure.

Assemble closeout packages, including punch lists, as built information, warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, and final releases.

Follow company safety policies and report safety or quality concerns to project leadership promptly.

What You Bring

Two to three years of construction project experience.

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent field experience will be considered.

Able to read civil plans and specifications and take quantities off them without assistance.

Working familiarity with grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water and fire line, site concrete, and erosion control.

Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Working understanding of jobsite safety, including trench and excavation practices.

Organized, accurate, and able to close out assignments without reminders.

Comfortable dealing directly with suppliers, subcontractors, inspectors, and general contractor teams.

Valid driver's license for jobsite travel across metro Atlanta.

Nice to Have

Time with a self perform sitework, utility, or heavy civil contractor (strongly preferred).

Bluebeam and Procore, or comparable plan review and project management platforms.

Foundation and Fieldwire experience. If you are new to them, you should pick up new systems quickly.

OSHA 30, competent person, and Georgia 811 training. We will provide it if needed.
