Release Train Engineer

Release Train EngineerCGI Federal is seeking a Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead Agile Release Train (ART) execution, facilitate SAFe ceremonies, manage cross team dependencies, and ensure coordinated delivery across a major federal modernization program. The Senior RTE drives PI Planning, manages program level risks, supports continuous improvement, and partners with mission stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership to ensure synchronized, high quality delivery in a secure environment. This position is located in Arlington, VA.Your future duties and responsibilities: Agile Release Train Leadership Lead, facilitate, and optimize Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies including PI Planning; coach syncs, ART syncs, and system demos. Ensure alignment across multiple Scrum (or Kanban) teams, technical workstreams, and integration points. Maintain ART cadence, commitments, and delivery outcomes. Execution Coordination & Dependency Management Understand, visualize, and manage upstream and downstream dependencies. Coordinate resolution across engineering, QA, cloud, security, and data teams. Manage ART boards, feature flow, and deliverable sequencing. Support readiness for major releases, migration cycles, and operational deployments. Help teams improve flow, quality, and predictability by removing impediments and escalating issues with leadership, when necessary. SAFe Governance & Continuous Improvement Champion SAFe principles, coaching teams on Agile and Lean practices. Lead Inspect & Adapt workshops and improvement initiatives. Drive delivery and continuous improvement by utilizing feedback and metrics (quality, flow metrics) to identify areas of opportunity. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Work closely with Product Management, Solution Architects, Release Management, and Mission stakeholders. Provide visibility through dashboards, reports, risk summaries, and ART status updates. Support preparation of leadership briefings, decision points, and modernization updates. Operational & Technical Support Ensure alignment between program strategy and team execution. Support integration activities across cloud, software development, data migration, and security operations. Coordinate with DevSecOps teams to maintain release readiness within CI/CD pipelines.Required qualifications to be successful in this role: U.S. Citizen Active security clearance or ability to obtain one. Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in Agile delivery, program coordination, or technical project leadership 3+ years of direct Release Train Engineer experience in a SAFe environment SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) certified Strong understanding of Agile, SAFe, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and enterprise software delivery Proven ability to manage cross team dependencies, risks, and sequencing Strong facilitation, organizational, and communication skills Desired qualifications/non essential skills required: Experience supporting the Department of State or other federal programs. SAFe RTE or SPC certification strongly preferred.
