Grants Specialist III

Grants Specialist III Department: VPR-SPA Pre‑Award | Employment Type: Full Time | Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Position Summary Work in the central pre‑award or sponsored projects office, managing a portfolio of approximately 2,500 awards annually (totaling more than $441 million in FY21). Key Responsibilities Review grant awards for compliance with federal, state, sponsor rules, and UGA policies; sign on behalf of the University. Manage awards from pre‑award stage through project close‑out, including re‑budgets, no‑cost extensions, and other post‑award changes. Ensure compliance with agency guidelines, including animal and human subject use; debarment, drug‑free workplace, and other regulations. Interpret award terms and conditions, agency philosophy, and relevant policies to assist faculty and staff with award administration. Serve as a liaison between funding agencies and faculty, addressing complex award and modification questions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent) with a minimum of two years of professional experience. Ability to independently manage a caseload in a deadline‑oriented environment. Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated knowledge of institutional policies and procedures related to external funding, finance, and administration. Preferred Qualifications Experience with sponsored projects administration.
