Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with visual impairments for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role is located onsite near Renton, WA, and offers meaningful work in a school environment dedicated to making a difference. As a teacher for the visually impaired, you will work part-time, providing specialized instructional support to a caseload of eight students. Your expertise will contribute directly to student growth and educational access.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification
- Prior fingerprint clearance through OSPI, or willingness to complete process
- Experience serving students with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs
- Passion for advocacy and inclusive practices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative TVI services to a caseload of approximately eight students
- Provide a range of weekly, monthly, and quarterly service minutes totaling about 15 hours per week
- Adapt curriculum materials and learning environments according to student needs
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, related service providers, and families
- Document progress, maintain IEP records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Support accessibility and inclusion in all aspects of the educational experience
