Position Summary

The Account Specialist/Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for being the primary interface with our customers, ensuring procedures are followed, and customer requirements are met in the processing of their orders, coordinating transportation, and inventory management to ensure efficient supply chain operations. Account Specialists/Shipping & Receiving Clerks will serve as a key connector between customer-facing processes and our warehouse operations while implementing best practices that support the continued growth of Palmer Logistics and H. Essers. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, proactive, customer-focused individual who is proficient in Warehouse Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Key Responsibilities

Account Specialist Functions

• Manage assigned customer accounts and ensure customer requirements are accurately executed.
• Process inbound and outbound orders in alignment with customer expectations and company procedures.
• Communicate with customers with clarity, professionalism, and urgency regarding order status, issues, and resolutions.
• Initiate NCRs (non-conformance reports) to address and prevent product quality or service issues.
• Perform invoicing and rate verification as per contractual terms.
• Maintain accurate inventory reconciliation and escalate discrepancies in a timely manner to leadership.
• Address and resolve customer concerns proactively when necessary.
• Support audit readiness and maintain process integrity at all times.

Shipping & Receiving Clerk Functions

• Schedule and reschedule inbound and outbound shipments ensuring that flow of goods supports customer service expectations and warehouse capacity.
• Maintain real-time visibility on shipping and receiving accuracy with a proactive approach to correcting errors.
• Coordinate rail freight activities when required.
• Report scheduling issues to leadership in a timely manner with proposed solutions.
• Participate in physical inventories and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Maintain full awareness of daily workload and collaborate with team members to ensure smooth execution.
