Audiologist PRN – Diagnostic Vestibular Location: Vanderbilt University Medical Center Satellite Clinics Schedule: PRN (Flexible, no weekends or holidays) This role supports outpatient diagnostic audiology and vestibular balance clinics across Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) satellite locations near Nashville, Tennessee. The position offers a flexible PRN schedule ideal for work‑life balance or supplemental clinical hours. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations, including pure‑tone audiometry, speech testing, tympanometry, OAEs, and ABR testing. Conduct vestibular and balance assessments for patients across the lifespan. Collaborate with ENT physicians and interdisciplinary providers to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow‑up care. Educate and support patients and families regarding hearing health, hearing loss, balance disorders, and next steps in care. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Qualifications Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) or Master’s degree in Audiology. Current Tennessee Audiology License. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC‑A) or ABA certification required. Strong diagnostic and vestibular testing skills. Excellent communication skills and a patient‑centered approach. Technical Capabilities Audiology Patient Evaluation (Novice) Obtain pertinent information to appropriately assess the patient. Administer appropriate hearing assessment per the clinical protocol. Interpret the results of the assessment and explain their significance. Demonstrate basic knowledge in audiometric assessment across the age range and at least two of the following areas: infant hearing screening and estimation, hearing aid assessment and fitting, cochlear implant assessment and fitting, and balance function testing. Audiology Treatment Implementation (Novice) Develop objectives based on assessment results and patient/family input. Select interventions that produce desired outcomes within projected time frames. Modify the treatment plan if required and incorporate educational needs for patient and family. Include patient and family in all aspects of care and respect professional boundaries. Audiology Patient Education (Novice) Communicate functional impact of assessment findings and treatment interventions. Adapt communication to the level of understanding of the patient. Determine comprehension and adjust strategies accordingly. Rehab Therapist Patient Documentation (Novice) Demonstrate proficiency in documentation practices. Use appropriate templates and approved abbreviations. Meet institutional standards for quality and timeliness of documentation.
