Sterile Processing Tech III (Second Shift)

Responsibilities Works directly with Surgery Clinical staff and managers to assess, troubleshoot, and make recommendations for all trauma and tertiary care surgical procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and a clear understanding of the entire sterilization process, including infection control, instrument functional quality control, sterility maintenance, and aseptic technique. Maintains high professional and ethical standards in all sterilization decisions. Serves as a resource and mentor for the SP team and the surgical clinical team. Assumes the lead role in the absence of the Manager and/or Coordinator. Participates in the distribution of instrument trays for surgical case carts according to surgery schedule, pick lists, and surgeon’s preference cards. Demonstrates a clear understanding of instrumentation used during surgical procedures. Responsible for daily record‑keeping and chemical, mechanical, and biological monitoring related to sterilization processes. Conducts orientation for new team members. Advocates for the most appropriate and safest sterilization methods for all patient‑care instrumentation and equipment. Ensures a safe environment through specific infection control procedures. Determines the best processing methods for ever‑changing, highly technical tertiary patient‑care instrumentation and equipment. Maintains punctual attendance in line with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent. Licensure/Certification: Nationally certified through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
