Position Automotive Teacher - CTE 2026-2027 Location Derry, NH Job Id 661 # of Openings 1 Contract Period Academic-year position, 186 days, salaried, exempt Supervisor Career and Technical Education Director / Associate Dean of Academics Qualifications NH Licensure or Eligible in Content Area. CTE Qualifications Minimum 3 years of teaching or comparable work experience required. NH licensure or Statement of Eligibility from NH Department of Education as Automotive Mechanics (#3500‑1703) and ASE Certified or complete within the first 3 months A4: Suspension & Steering, A5: Brakes & A6: Electrical/ Electronic Systems. Essential Skills and Abilities – Classroom Implements effective instructional practices to meet the needs of the learners Plans lessons and units Assesses student progress, provides timely feedback, and alters instruction based on that feedback Communicates and adheres to clear grading procedures aligned with department policy Monitors and documents the progress of students and issues reports when appropriate Maintains accurate student records and data, including grades and attendance Utilizes appropriate and available resources (technology, professional growth opportunities, collaboration) Communicates proactively with students and other stakeholders regarding student progress Provides support and remediation for students outside of class time Essential Skills and Abilities – Department Exhibits enthusiasm, cooperation, and professionalism with respect to department responsibilities Engages and participates in department meetings, professional learning communities, and common planning Displays professional growth in relation to individual, department, and school initiatives Collaborates and shares expertise or areas of professional growth with colleagues Communicates effectively and respectfully with department members Involvement in inventory and budgeting, general supervision, and departmental responsibilities Displays professionalism, appropriate conduct and behavior, punctuality, care of equipment and facilities, reliability, and appropriate management techniques Program Responsibilities – Career and Technical Education Ensures appropriate storage and use of school-owned materials, equipment, tools, and donated materials to prevent loss or misuse Prepares short- and long-term budgets and assists with procurement of supplies and equipment specific to the program Facilitates and maintains industry partnerships to align the program with industry needs Facilitates and maintains student opportunities for internships, coop, job shadows, student enterprises, and CTSOs Teachers with student enterprises serve as CEO and CFO of those organizations Teachers with CTSOs serve as an advisor for aligned organizations Participates in CTE events such as the Career Awareness Night and Advisory Committee meetings Complies with all program-specific requirements of Perkins IV Commits to working with CTE staff to fulfill the mission of Career and Technical Education CTE Safety Plan Maintains a safe, orderly, comfortable, and productive classroom environment, instructs students on safety protocols, educates on safe operation of tools, machines, and equipment, and controls facility layout, materials storage, lighting, heating, and ventilation.
