Psychologist - Children's Specialized Hospital, RWJBarnabas Health
At Children's Specialized Hospital, part of RWJBarnabas Health, Psychologists become part of a collaborative, family-centered environment where compassion, innovation, and clinical excellence come together to support children and families navigating developmental, behavioral, and complex medical needs. This outpatient Psychologist role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive behavioral health services for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. As a Psychologist, you will provide psychological assessment, diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic intervention, and consultation while partnering with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to promote emotional well-being, resilience, and healthy development. A typical day for a Psychologist may include:
- Conducting comprehensive psychodiagnostic evaluations and identifying the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families
- Providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy tailored to each patient's developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Performing cognitive and neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive functioning and guide individualized treatment planning
- Developing realistic, patient-centered goals focused on treatment adherence, pain management, coping with medical conditions, behavioral health concerns, and overall emotional well-being
- Collaborating with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive, family-centered care
- Participating in interdisciplinary case conferences and providing behavioral health consultation to clinical team members as needed
- Supporting patients and families through evidence-based therapeutic interventions while collaborating with occupational, physical, speech, and recreational therapy teams
- Participating in program development, research initiatives, staff education, and community outreach opportunities
- Supervising fellows, interns, externs, and other trainees as appropriate while supporting continued professional development
- Maintaining timely documentation, communicating findings with sensitivity and professionalism, and meeting established productivity expectations

To be considered for this Psychologist opportunity:
- You have earned a PhD, PsyD, or EdD and possess at least one year of related clinical experience.
- You hold a current New Jersey Psychologist license and a valid driver's license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification is required.
- Experience with cognitive behavioral interventions and working with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum is preferred.
- The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent clinical judgment, strong communication and consultation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with children, adolescents, young adults, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Flexibility in work hours may be required.
