GULLIVER PREPARATORY SCHOOL INC
If you are unable to complete this application due to a disability, contact this employer to ask for an accommodation or an alternative application process. 2026-27 Upper School Faculty (Visual Arts) Contract Full-Time Pinecrest, FL, US About Gulliver Preparatory School Gulliver is a leading school of distinction, founded in 1926 and rooted in a century of educational excellence. To this day, our mission remains unchanged: to create an academic community devoted to educational excellence, with a personal touch, that fulfills each student’s potential. Our dedicated educators are at the heart of this mission, as they empower our students to think, create, and grow with purpose, connecting the classroom to the real world, and preparing them for what’s next. At Gulliver, we believe that success is not just what students achieve, but also who they become, and the role they play in shaping the future. Working at Gulliver Gulliver is a trusted guide for families, and our faculty and staff are core to building powerful relationships that ensure every child thrives. Our compassionate, inspired educators nurture individuality and character, fostering a culture of collaboration that challenges students to meet their full potential and prepare for a future full of possibility. Join a community where passionate educators elevate their craft, inspire future-ready learners, and take teaching and learning to the next level! Position Overview Gulliver Prep Upper School faculty are passionate, student-centered educators committed to delivering dynamic, engaging, and rigorous academic experiences. Faculty actively contribute to a culture of data-informed improvement, academic excellence, and community belonging. They are collaborative professionals who strive to foster deep learning, critical thinking, and the holistic development of all students in alignment with Gulliver’s mission and educational philosophy. The Visual Arts Program is built on Next Level Teaching and Learning in the Visual Arts — a departmental philosophy centered on Creative Intelligence (Awareness, Imagination, Skill and Intuition). We believe skill in drawing, painting, and design is scaffolding for creative thinking, not the end goal of an art education. We are looking for a teacher who shares this vision: someone who sees students as artists, researchers, and problem-solvers, and who is as invested in how students think as in what they can create. The program offers a full curriculum of two- and three-dimensional mediums, including International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement coursework. Many of our students go on to top undergraduate visual arts programs, including RISD, Pratt, MICA, SAIC, and SCAD, and many participate in summer art programs locally or at art colleges. Job Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with department standards and school-wide curriculum goals — prioritizing student voice, risk-taking, and authentic problem-solving alongside technical growth. Design lessons that engage all learners, incorporate best practices, and promote deeper understanding of course content. Manage the classroom and studio in a way that balances creative freedom with structure, trust, and mutual respect. Utilize technology and innovative tools to enhance student learning and creativity. Contribute to curriculum development and revision in collaboration with department colleagues and the Department Chair. Monitor and assess student progress regularly using multiple data sources; provide timely, actionable feedback. Use data and assessment to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including academic support and enrichment. Is an advisor to students in the Character Education program. Promote student social-emotional growth and help create a positive, inclusive classroom culture. Partner with colleagues, counselors, and families to support student success and well-being. Write letters of recommendation for students applying to college, university, and summer programs. Support students in preparing and submitting work for competitions and exhibitions. Professional Growth & Collaboration Participate actively in department meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives. Reflect on teaching practice and seek continuous growth through an openness to classroom observations, critical feedback from Department Chairs, and peer collaboration. Complete required training and certifications, including professional learning opportunities such as the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) courses if applicable. Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Community & School Engagement Serve as a visible and active member of the school community, including attending events, chaperone events, advising clubs, and supporting student activities, both during and after school hours where needed. Maintain clear, respectful communication with students, families, and colleagues. Contribute to the school’s culture of belonging and inclusion through curriculum, relationships, and co-curricular engagement. Qualifications and Requirements BA in Art Education or BFA required; a master's in a related field is preferred. Valid teaching certification or equivalent preferred. Minimum 2-3 years of successful teaching experience at the high school level. Experience teaching studio art and AP Art History preferred. Familiarity with Creative Intelligence or comparable choice-based, student-centered pedagogies. Confidence with Google Workspace. Strong instructional, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote a positive and collaborative professional culture. Passion for education, student development, and professional learning. Commitment to Gulliver Prep’s mission, values, and continuous improvement. Pre-Employment Requirements Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening(s), and Drug screen. Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Gulliver is deeply committed to the principles of equity and diversity and seeks to create an inclusive community for all faculty and staff. Gulliver is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace. #J-18808-Ljbffr
