As the technical expert they bridge the gap between sales, development, service and customers by offering unique perspectives and deep understanding of mechanics, polymer science, and operational goals. With an innovative and collaborative spirit, they work with cross functional teams to optimize solutions, provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure successful product integration and information retention. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Maintain expert level of product and application knowledgeCollaborate with customers and internal teams on project application engineering and project management including quoting, configuring customer systems, and managing project timelines and communication.Partner with other teams, including engineering, service, quality, and supply chain, to drive project technical successResolve internal and external technical support requests or issues related to product selection, application, specification, installation, etc.Support the resolution of infield customer complaints via process optimization or new technology implementationListen, understand and convey customer requirements to internal teamsSupport new product development and existing product improvement projects Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to enhance existing processesDevelop tools and/or guidelines to support internal teams’ ability to identify and correctly address design risks for complex applicationsPlan and/or facilitate technical training for customers from C-suit to operators to support customer education and outside salesInitiate, plan, and support execution of customer driven or investigative lab trialsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field (Mechanical, Chemical, Polymer), or an Associate Degree in Engineering with 7 years relevant work experience in a technical discipline in lieu of a four-year degreeExcellent verbal and written communication skills Project Management experience with external customersExperience in the use of CAD software, preferably SolidWorksUnderstanding of manufacturing processes including but not limited to: machining, welding, hard facing/cladding/coating, heat treatingMechanical or electrical design backgroundProficiency with CRM/Database toolsSkilled in use of Microsoft Office software, especially Power point, Word and ExcelAble and willing to travel 25% or more, especially during first year of trainingPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
