CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

JOB TITLE/LOCATION: Machinist I - Blanking – Santa Ana, CA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Sets up and operates manual and CNC machines under supervision. Reads and interprets blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings. Performs machining operations from drawings and written work instructions. Measures and inspects finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments. Utilizes basic mathematical skills to measure and record dimensional items with accuracy and efficiency. Documents production data and reports deviations from specifications. Assumes responsibility for his or her part quality. Utilizes standard and customer measuring equipment to perform dimensional checks, blueprint reading, and offsets. Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspections to ensure compliance with quality specifications. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of machines by ensuring they are in operational condition by performing daily preventive maintenance checks of oil levels and coolant concentration, reporting any machine abnormalities to the shift team leader or supervisor. Maintains a clean and organized work area to 6S standards. Loads and unloads products and fixtures on assigned CNC machine. Works safely in accordance to RBC Transport Dynamics’ safety guidelines, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Reports nonconforming parts to shift lead, supervisor, manager, or engineering. Collaborates with team members and report issues to supervisors. Ensures continuity between 1 st and 2 nd shifts through verbal or documented communication for required actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Obtains job assignments from supervisor or manager. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager. EDUCATION: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Technical training or CNC Machinist Certification is preferred. EXPERIENCE: 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or machining environment. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Basic understanding of machining principles and measurement tools. Ability to read technical drawings and follow instructions. Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions. Basic math skills include adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and fractions. Basic PC skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Strong communications skills. Ability to work both individually and as part of a team. Must be able to pass any customer required testing/machining specifications pertaining to their parts and standards, as required. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks at a high volume by set deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Willingness to learn and grow within the organization. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors within the office and manufacturing areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate or loud. Also, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or to hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Pay Range: $24 to $28/hour In addition to the hourly base rate listed above, employees who work on 2nd shift will receive a shift differential of $2.00/hour.
