Commercial Insurance Producer | Business Development

Build and grow a substantial commercial insurance book of business with Farmers Insurance.

Farmers Insurance District Office – Scottsdale & Greater Phoenix is seeking an experienced Commercial Insurance Producer or proven B2B Sales Professional to develop, manage, and grow a commercial insurance book of business throughout the Phoenix Metro area.

This position is ideal for a results-driven sales professional who excels at building relationships, generating new business, and developing long-term client relationships.

In addition to building your client portfolio through prospecting, networking, referrals, and business development, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with established Farmers agency owners to identify additional commercial insurance opportunities within their existing customer bases.

Our agencies collectively serve thousands of households across the Valley, including business owners and professionals who may have commercial insurance needs. These established relationships provide an additional avenue to identify prospects, generate referrals, and expand your commercial insurance portfolio.

Your focus will be on growing a profitable, sustainable book of commercial insurance business while developing long-term client relationships and recurring renewal opportunities.

We're looking for a motivated sales professional who wants to build a meaningful commercial insurance portfolio, develop a strong referral network, and achieve long-term success through consistent new business production and account growth.

Responsibilities

• Build, manage, and grow a profitable commercial insurance book of business.
• Proactively prospect for new commercial clients through networking, referrals, outbound sales activity, and local business development.
• Partner with established Farmers agency owners to identify commercial insurance opportunities within their existing customer portfolios.
• Conduct comprehensive commercial insurance reviews to evaluate business risks, identify coverage gaps, and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners and decision-makers throughout Scottsdale and Greater Phoenix.
• Establish referral partnerships with CPAs, Realtors, lenders, attorneys, payroll providers, and other business professionals.
• Quote and sell Businessowners Policies (BOP), Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Auto, General Liability, Commercial Property, and related commercial insurance products.
• Maintain an active pipeline of qualified commercial insurance prospects and consistently generate new business opportunities.
• Manage the commercial sales process from initial prospecting and needs assessment through quoting, proposal presentation, and closing.
• Identify cross-selling and account-rounding opportunities to increase client retention and expand the commercial book.
• Develop long-term customer relationships focused on account growth, retention, and renewal business.
• Leverage Farmers Business Insurance products, underwriting resources, technology, training, and District support.
• Consistently achieve established sales production, new business growth, and activity expectations.

Requirements

Prior insurance industry experience, including hands-on Commercial Lines experience, is required for this position.

• Demonstrated experience selling, servicing, or managing commercial property and casualty insurance accounts.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, including BOP, General Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers’ Compensation, and Commercial Property.
• Proven ability to prospect, develop relationships, and generate new commercial insurance business.
• Experience working with business owners to assess risks, identify coverage needs, and recommend appropriate commercial insurance solutions.
• Familiarity with commercial insurance quoting, underwriting requirements, policy terms, and the sales process.
• Strong networking, relationship-building, and referral-development skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with business owners, executives, and other decision-makers.
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, competitive, and highly organized.
• Ability to independently manage a sales pipeline, maintain consistent prospect follow-up, and achieve production goals.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with established Farmers agency owners and District resources.
• Active Arizona Property & Casualty insurance license, or ability to obtain the required Arizona license within an agreed-upon timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of commercial insurance sales or Commercial Lines account management experience.
• Demonstrated success producing new commercial insurance business and growing an existing book of business.
• Experience working with small and mid-sized business accounts.
• Established professional relationships within the Scottsdale and Greater Phoenix business community.
• Experience with commercial insurance carrier quoting platforms, underwriting submissions, and commercial policy placement.
• Existing referral relationships with CPAs, commercial Realtors, lenders, attorneys, payroll providers, and other business professionals.
• Prior experience working in an independent insurance agency, captive insurance agency, commercial brokerage, or carrier sales environment.

This is a commercial insurance production and business development position—not an entry-level insurance sales role. Prior Commercial Lines insurance experience is essential.
