About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BCLS Must-Have: - MED/Surg experience - Telemetry-remote monitoring experience - Ability to interpret dysrhythmias - Proficient in IV insulin protocols - Experience with colostomy care - Skilled in feeding tube care and management - Knowledge of pre/post hemodialysis management - Experience with blood product administration - Competence in central line blood draw - Peripheral line care and management - Phlebotomy skills - PICC line management - IV start skills - Familiarity with heparin protocols - Knowledge of PCA management - Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac) - Proficiency in CPAP/BiPAP and high flow nasal cannula - Knowledge of non-invasive airway management - Oral suctioning experience - Oxygen face mask and portable oxygen tank experience - Understanding of isolation precautions - Wound care and wound vac management Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation. Travelers are accepted, including first-time travelers. Local candidates may apply, with a rate difference. The expected patient ratio is 1:5-6. A minimum of 12-16 weekend shifts per contract is required. Candidates must be open to floating within or near the facility as needed. Staff will be assigned to work during catastrophic events or disasters. Common patient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fracture. The unit provides multi-level care, including an isolation area for COVID patients. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Daily census is around 41 patients, with 41 beds available. Clinical documentation and communication are performed through designated systems. Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty. All testing must be completed within a specified timeframe before reporting to work.
