Product Development Engineer

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Product Development Engineer to support commercially released products and drive process improvements in their Charlotte, NC R&D facility. The role involves managing product changes, collaborating across functions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and manufacturing standards in a controlled laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support technical activities including material, supplier, equipment, and process changes
• Partner with cross-functional teams to perform assessments, define testing strategies, and execute validation activities
• Author and maintain engineering assessments, technical justifications, protocols, and change documentation
• Evaluate how product design, manufacturing processes, and technical changes impact compliance and performance
• Support post-market product evolution while maintaining manufacturing capability and regulatory compliance

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or science discipline plus 5+ years relevant experience
• Experience in highly controlled manufacturing environments such as microelectronics or food & beverage
• Demonstrated ability to perform technical impact assessments and evaluate design changes
• Experience authoring technical documentation including assessments, protocols, and qualification packages
• Cross-functional collaboration experience with Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams
• Proven methodical problem-solving and engineering decision-making in documentation-driven settings
• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship and ability to pass background check and drug screening
