Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Critical Care Float position at a Magnet-designated academic Level I Trauma Center in Madison, WI, requiring multi-ICU experience and prior travel experience.

Details

• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend and some holiday coverage required
• Float position covering multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, and IMC/Progressive/General care populations
• Patient population spans a wide range of critical care acuity including multisystem organ dysfunction, traumatic brain injury, post-cardiac surgery, stroke, and burn patients
• Specialized procedures and equipment include arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, ECMO, Impella, IABP, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, CVVHD/CRRT, EVD, ICP monitoring, and ventilator management
• Epic EMR required; experience within the past 12 months preferred
• Travelers are required to float as needed across critical care units

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required — AHA-issued only
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care ICU experience within the last 3 years
• 5 years of ICU experience preferred
• Experience in an academic Level I Trauma Center required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with critical care skills including ventilator management, vasoactive/cardiac drip titration, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, ABG interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
• Telemetry exam must be passed prior to start (see additional information for details)

Additional Information

• This is a Magnet®-designated academic teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and a nationally recognized referral center
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• A telemetry exam is required prior to starting the assignment and must be passed under the following criteria — Adult Exam: 100% identification of lethal rhythms (V-fib, V-tach, asystole), no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions, and an overall passing score of 80% or higher; Pediatric Exam: correct identification of V-fib, V-tach, asystole, and sinus bradycardia with a passing score of 80% or higher
• Candidates have two attempts to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt may be granted upon submission of a completed cardiac interpretation review course certificate, but failure on the third attempt will result in assignment cancellation
• Parking on-site requires a permit through UW Transportation; alternative options include bus, park-and-ride, and private parking
