Program Specialist

Position City of Claremont Recreation and Human Services Department is hiring a Program Specialist for the Front Counter team. Job Responsibilities Support the Program Coordinator in overseeing the City’s Contract Class Program at the Alexander Hughes Community Center. Coordinate class offerings, ensure program compliance, and expand recreational opportunities for the community. Assist instructors with administrative tasks, including cash and receipt reconciliation, complex customer service requests, and data entry. Develop and implement office systems, schedule meetings, prepare correspondence, and perform related duties as assigned. Work part‑time (approximately 25 hours per week), Monday‑Friday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m., with potential evening, weekend, and holiday hours for special events. Participate in mandatory special events: Village Venture (October), Halloween Spooktacular, Holiday Promenade, Spring Celebration, 4th of July Celebration, Monday Night Concert series (July–August), Movies in the Park series, and other events requested by the department. Required Qualifications Minimum of 18 years of age and completion of 12th grade or equivalent GED. At least two years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation, social or human services, or a related field. Valid CPR and first aid certification (to be obtained within six months of employment). Valid California Class C Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. Ability to comply with the agency’s Mandated Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting policies.
