Diesel Mechanic
A well-established waste and recycling company in the Milwaukie area is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support a fleet of garbage trucks and heavy equipment. This is a stable, long-term opportunity with competitive pay, full benefits, and flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and driveline components
- Perform maintenance and repairs on garbage trucks and refuse equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems (packers, cylinders, etc.)
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections (PMs)
- Repair brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
- Maintain accurate work orders and documentation
- Follow safety procedures and shop standards
Qualifications
- 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience (heavy trucks or equipment preferred)
- Experience with refuse equipment is a plus
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus, not required)
- Own basic tools (specialty tools may be provided)
