Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary Perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment, repair all plant equipment, install new plant equipment, maintain safe and efficient work conditions for all mobile equipment, perform electrical work, work with outside contractors on equipment, and keep parts rooms neat and orderly. Responsibilities & Expectations Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the shop area. Inspect all process equipment in the plant quarry visually. Complete all preventive maintenance (PM) activities related to process equipment—greasing, oiling, filter maintenance, etc. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues with process equipment. Perform mechanic work using hand tools and air‑powered tools. Report and document workplace inspections, noting safety or equipment defects. Generate required documents per the quality system. Communicate defects to the manager. Assist in tracking inventory. Attend safety meetings and enforce company, local, state, and federal safety policies and procedures. Maintain company and federal housekeeping standards, promoting safety among co‑workers. Participate in the behavior‑based safety program. Implement all elements of the quality manual and maintain validity of documentation and procedures. Provide and verify on‑the‑job training as assigned. Back up any qualified position as assigned by the supervisor and be available for backup. Perform other duties as assigned. Attributes Must have welding experience. Industrial background with strong troubleshooting skills. Basic mathematical competency. Ability to detect potential problems through observation. Shift work, seven days a week, including holidays; flexible to schedule changes. phone available for call‑outs. Ability to work 12‑hour shifts during plant outages. Proven self‑direction and leadership abilities. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Prioritizes and manages multiple tasks/projects to meet deadlines. Team player who works well with others. Open‑mind, willing to learn and receptive to change. Effective communication with supervisors and peers. Basic computer skills. Previous experience operating heavy equipment desirable. Ability to read, write, and interpret work orders, blueprints, mechanical drawings, safety rules, SOPs, and maintenance instructions. Knowledgeable of environmental regulations related to the lime industry. Physical Demands Access all areas on site, which may include heights of up to 120 feet, confined spaces, ladders, stairs, and tunnels. Perform essential job duties in an office and mining environment. Stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, talk, see, hear, and sit as required. Consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed. Work can involve extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, dust, fumes, and mineral particles. Required Education High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, plus 2 years of technical school or 4 years of industrial maintenance experience. Required Experience Previous industrial maintenance experience.
