Description:
The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist or physician.
The role involves performing high-quality ultrasound procedures in a timely manner per established protocols.
The technologist ensures production and quality of imaging procedures by adhering to set standards and procedures.
Effective communication with patients is essential to identify service requirements and ensure correct exams are performed.
Instructing and communicating with patients regarding the tests to be performed is a key part of the role.
The technologist prepares patients and the examination area, positioning patients and adjusting equipment as needed.
Safeguarding patients and team members is critical through adherence to safety, infection control, and radiation protocols.
The role requires maintaining equipment and workspace to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
Technologists collaborate with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
Documentation relevant to procedures, patient history, and any necessary consent forms must be maintained.
Imaging team members are expected to follow established workflows and policies related to imaging systems.
Accurate record-keeping for medical imaging is essential for timely interpretation and compliance with standards.
Key success factors include the ability to perform ultrasound procedures independently and under pressure.
The ability to explain procedures clearly and maintain a calm demeanor is vital for patient comfort.
Customer satisfaction is prioritized by minimizing wait times and providing courteous service.
Technologists are expected to maintain knowledge and skills in patient care for all age groups.
Training new team members and onboarding new services is also a responsibility of this role.
Availability for call duty may be required as part of the position.
